| What is search engine optimization? |
|
Search engine optimization, commonly abbreviated as 'SEO,' is the practice of guiding the development or redevelopment of a website so that it will naturally attract visitors by achieving top ranking on the major search engines for selected search terms and phrases. As an example, if you wanted your web page to appear higher in the Google results for the search term 'widget manufacturer,' the content on that page, the structure of the overall site, and other factors would be tweaked to optimize that pages chances. SEO services cannot be guaranteed; be wary of companies that promise 'top-ten rankings' or other similar claims. "Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results, or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines." - Wikipedia.com |
